Implant: A dental implant is placed by the surgeon, usually by an oral surgeon or periodontist, although some general dentist are trained as well. Often they will recommend a ct scan before to determine the status of the bone. Under local anesthetic or sedation if you prefer. The implant will be placed , it takes a few months for the implant to stabilize and then the dentist will place a crown.

Many ways: For immediate placement - tooth is extracted atraumatically, and provided there is no infection, good quality of bone, etc, the socket can be prepared to receive an implant. If the tooth has been previously extracted and there is sufficient bone to accept an implant, then an osteotomy is prepared into which the implant is placed. Either a healing cap or a sealing cap is then placed.

Osteotomy first: A small hole also known as an osteotomy is placed within the bone and a fixture similar to a small screw is thread into place. An abutment is then attached to the implant. The crown relicating the missing tooth is then either cemented or screwed into the fixture.

Dental implant: Dental implant can be thought of a miniature orthopedic appliance. The idea is to replicate a support structure (i.e. Root) in the jawbone which will support a crown. The crown is the visible part that is used for chewing and other related functions.

Straightforward: Having one dental implant is usually an easy process. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia only or with sedation. Assuming that there is enough bone present, the placement of a dental implant can take from 10 min to 30 min. Quick and easy. Often patients can return to light duty work, the next day. Good luck.

Surgery: Access to the bone is achieved by either a tissue punch or an incision in the gum depending upon the number of implants being placed. The bone is drilled with precision sized drills until the hole is the size of the implant and then the implant is screwed into the hole.

Tooth replacement: Implant is a cylindrical titanium structure that is inserted into your jaw bone to replaced the missing tooth. After the placement, it has to be osseointegrated with your bone, a process which involved bone growth into the implant created a mechanical and chemical bonding. After that period (4-6 months), an abutment is screwed in and crown is placed on top for function.

Prevent infection: An infection will prevent osseointegration, the process of bone growth into the implant and establish a mechanical and chemical bonding, ultimately leads to failure or ailing of an implant. An infection will stop fibroblast movement, cause epithelial down growth, initiate a cascaded chain reaction of our body immunity system. Antibiotic must be given to prevent an infection following implant surgery.

Yes: Implants can be used with locator to provides attachment to your denture for retention. They also can be used to attached a bar to provide more loads and retention for the extreme ridge atrophy cases. Lastly, they can be used as the crucial abutment teeth (usually first molars) to fabricate a tooth borne partial.

Implant procedure: Current methods include small incision, cylinder placement, healing period, then appropriate prosthetic replacement from single teeth to full overdentures.

Incidence: Cleft lip (cl) and palate (CP) or both (cl/p) is common among birth defects. I am not sure what you meant by your question. There is significant ratial differences in incidences with most common in american indians (3.7/1000), japanese (2.7/1000), chinese (2/1000), caucasian (1.7/1000), blacks (.4/1000). In danish, cl(p) is more common in male, CP is more common in female. Majority of patient with unilateral cleft lip are left handed (rintala, 1985).

Most Simplified. : 1. A ct scan will help determine if adequate bone is present; often times a scan/surgical guide will be custom made for the scan and surgical prep. 2. Implant placement surgery with or without simple bone grafting. 3. Healing time 3-4 months. 4. Preparation for final crown. This is the most simple senario, there are many variable that often require individualized attention.

In mild detail....: Assuming the tooth has been missing, and there is adequate bone height, a pilot hole is placed within the jawbone. For comfort a local anesthetic is needed. For additional comfort perhaps nitrous oxide gas or IV sedation may be warranted. After the pilot hole is placed the space is created for the implant body. The implant body is then placed. Following a healing time, these can be "loaded".

Steps: A few steps-local anesthetic, drill a whole, widen the hole, screw in the implant, send you home with antibiotics, post operative instructions and pain medication. Three months later-attach an abutment (a post that holds the crown, make and cement a crown. However, the most important part of this whole thing is the planning.

Go to a specialist : First go to a specialist prosthodontist, after an rx and clinical evaluation, the rest is very easy, sometimes easier than doing a filling. Don worry to much on that.

Drill a hole !: The area is numbed with anesthetic first, then the surgeon will make a small incision and expose the bone where the implant is to be placed. A small drill is used to create a tiny hole. The position and angulation of the hole is checked with an x-ray. The hole is then made larger to accommodate the implant selected. It is screwed in and then the gum tissue is placed over top with stitches.

Planned: Follows a straightforward plan. Diagnosis with clinical exam, diagnostic casts, imaging (possibly 3D scan), surgical placement of the implant under local anesthesia, possibly conscious sedation, possible immediate provisionalization, healing time of 100 days, final impression and final restoration. May also have bone grafting as needed. Predictable, excellent treatment. Good Luck.

Implant procedure: If you are missing a single tooth, one implant and a crown can replace it. 1. Surgical: dental implants will be placed in the jaw bone using a gentle surgical technique. 2. Restorative: the permanent replacement teeth, will be attached to these abutments. The dental implants are the optimal choice for your overall health, self-confidence, well being and quality of life!
