Is there a difference between having back pains and scoliosis?

Yes: Scoliosis is congenital abnormal spine curvature, curvature usually increases one degree per year in adulthood. Small curves do not cause pain , large curves causes pain. Many with scoliosis have pain for other causes , and not only scoliosis. Seek help if pain persists. In my experience pull ups as a traction on the spine for 12 second per day has slows down the progression on the curves.
