Bone bruise!/crack: You obviously hit it pretty hard and caused the skin to be injured and bleeding under the skin to make it turn blue and swell. You definately impacted on your bone and caused at least a bone bruise too. These can hurt or be sensitive for several months. What you can't be sure of without an x-ray or even an MRI if the x-ray is normal is whether you cracked the knee cap. See an orthopedic surgeon.
