Depends: If it is a benign cyst will not 'destroy' ovary . If it is malignant not just ovary, will need additional radical cancer surgery to save the life.

No: It won't ruin the ovary- but depends on the cyst and the nature of it, and if they are concerned that there is cancer in the ovary.
