Maybe.: You should consider ablation with radioactive iodine. Safe . Cheap. Non invasive.

Treat hyperthyroid: There are 3 treatments for long-term hyperthyroidism (graves' disease, and toxic nodular goiter) : medications as ptu (propylthiouracil) or methimazole, or surgical removal of thyroid, or radio iodine i-131 ablation. If can't take meds, then surgery (complete or partial thyroid removal) will quickly lower thyroid levels, with low risk if experienced surgeon. Or i-131 radioactive pill can lower thyroid in ~3-4 mos.
