Diet & exercise: These lifestyle changes can be adopted by both of you, and since you love her, you can find some fitness activity that you both enjoy. However, cholesterol is largely genetic. She should be prepared, should lifestyle changes not be sufficient to reduce cholesterol to safe levels, to make an informed decision about taking, perhaps, a statin that should cost almost nothing.

Need more info: What is her hdl, and triglycerides? Does she smoke? Is she diabetic? One way to reduce cholesterol is to reduce intake of saturated fats, lose weight, and increase physical activity.
