I'm 44 years old and my cholesterol level is the 178. is this a good reading?

Yes,,,: This is a very good reading, especially for your age. A total less than 200 is desirable as this is protective from atherosclerosis or hardening and narrowing of the arteries from atherosclerotic plaques that are formed from cholesterol. It's important to also maintain an ideal body weight as well as eat right and exercise. Good luck.

Depends on types: As a total that sounds fine, but we really need to know the HDL,LDL and trglycerides to be sure. If your HDL > 45, LDL
