Evaluation first: This woman needs to see a geriatric psychiatrist regarding questions about "pseudodementia." without clear evaluation and diagnosis, treatment could go astray. She also needs a general medical checkup by her primary care physician. Reversible causes of dementia can be found & treated. Psychiatrist can implement any needed medications for depression or dementia, monitoring results carefully.

Test question?: I am unsure there is only one answer to you question. If healthy otherwise and if limited to the ssris would generally want to go with a low dose at first, with little risk of orthostasis or anticolinergic effects. We want an intermediate half life that would not stay in the system too long.... So 5 mg of Lexapro (escitalopram) or 25 mg of zoloft would be my recommendation. Increase slowly in 3-5 week if needed.
