If your suv number is 2 and cea a 5.6 does that mean lung nodules are cancerous?

Maybe: A standard uptake value of more than 2.5 would be more worrisome, and a blood CEA of 5.6 can simply mean that you smoke. Regardless of these results, you are going to get the nodule(s) biopsied; especially if they are multiple, the result may be something treatable that is low on the list of entities that you may already have considered. Good luck & stay proactive; there are lots of new rx's here.

No: A pet scan may not be too abnormal and that does not stop you from further evaluating the nodules, i.e., biopsy! in colon cancer, it is not uncommon that the nodules do not have avid uptake on pet scan. If your CEA is elevated, the nodules need to be evaluated. If too small, then repeat a ct scan in a short time, i.e., 6-8 weeks. A biopsy is still the gold standard. Hope this helps.
