Yes: Stool softeners like colace (docusate sodium) or surfak usually help. Citalopram is not known for causing problems with constipation, but it is possible. I would discuss your concerns with your doctor, especially if the constipation is a significant change for you. You may have something else going on which could benefit from some medical attention. Yes: Stool softness should get you regular again--check with your doc re adjusting the dose & the drug used.
