Not usually. : The hida scan is a nuclear medicine test that measures the uptake of some radiolabeled IV medicine. It is not commonly associated with causing pain. If your pain is worse then perhaps whatever the test was ordered for is getting worse. Do you know what the results of the test were?

No irritation: The radiotracer used for a hepatobiliary scan ( 99mtc-hida) is a very safe agent with only a fraction of mg injected . This product has not been reported to cause any "irritation" or inflammation of the gallbladder. Another cause must be the reason of your pain. This should be discussed with the doctor who prescribed the hida scan.

The HIDA scan itself: Should not cause any worsening of symptoms. If a gallbladder ejection fraction was performed as part of the hida, the medicine administered (kinevac) can sometimes cause symptoms during its administration, but is broken down by the body in minutes. Your symptoms may be worse because your disease is progressing.
