20-30 mins: It is usually done as an outpatient (go home the same day) under local anesthesia with light sedation. You usually have to arrive an hour or so before to get the sedative and drops to dilate the pupil for the surgery. Once you enter the operating room, it should take your surgeon about 20-30 minutes to complete the operation.

10-15 mins or more: It depends on complexity of the case. In a standard case the time of surgery may take 10-15mins or less , but the patients needs additional preparation, sterilization of the eye which may take additional 10-15 mins. A difficult and complicated surgery may take much longer time.

5-45 minutes: Cataracts vary, as do cataract surgery equipment, assisting staff, and surgeons. In addition to the 5-45 minutes of operating time, the patient will have time being prepared for surgery and some time after surgery. Depending on the facility, the additional time can range from 10 minutes to an hour and a half. Extra hard cataracts, complicated cases, and trauma cases may take longer.

Depending: Depending on pre-surgery risk factors (no retinal or other part of eye issues/pathology) & intra-surgery events (not much energy needed, no vitreous/gel loss) most surgeries take 15-30minutes or less. See eyedoc2020@blogspot.com for further information.
