How safe are silicone injections on buttocks?

Not safe at all!: Free silicone injections can migrate, cause scar fibrosis, granulomas, pain, irregularity of the skin surface, and can also become infected. Free silicone is impossible to remove if it has any or several of these problems, so an entire chunk of skin and fat must be excised and a skin graft placed should serious difficulties arise. Please say no! solid silicone implants or fat grafts are much safer.

No!: Silicone injections are not safe for the buttock. They should never be used.

Silicone in buttocks: A large glob of anything under the skin is never safe. Silicone is not a large volume filler, and is safest when injected in micro-droplet fashion. Buttocks augmentation is best done with your own fat.

Not safe: I have yet to meet the first patient who did not regret sooner or later to have had other than her/his fat injected in her buttock. These injections could be fatal on the day of the injection or the day the patient wants it removed. For the buttock area the best option for most patients is injections or transfer of your own fat.
