Frustrating problem: You can watch and wait, having your doctor keep a close eye on your thyroid ultrasound in the coming 3-6 months. You could also ask for a repeat biopsy in 3-6 months. If the nodule is large, you may wish to discuss having thyroid surgery (removal) to settle the problem.

Thyroid FNA: Typically one can wait 3-6 months and reaspirate the nodule to see if a more definite diagnosis can be made. At the same time, there are some genetic analyses that can be performed that might assist in a definitive diagnosis. If the nodule is large enough that it is causing other problems (e.g. Difficulty breathing or eating), it can be removed surgically.
