Chill out: You have become frightened by something long past. You need to discuss this with a good doctor and get it out of your mind. Get on with your life in a normal and appropriate manner.

Ask a doctor: You should not be picking a prescription sleeping pill for your 16 yo. In general you need to know why does a 16 yo need a sleep aid. Talk to a doctor. Could be depression, anxiety, or fear. The seizure history in the family is important, but it might be that there is an abnormal eeg anyway & the sleep med lowered the seizure threshold. Some people only have 1 seizure in their lifetime.

Self discipline: As a teen ager your body is under stress because you are maturing. I assume you are like most teenager that go to bed large, spend time on the phone or texting all hours of the night. Rather than sleeping pills learn a little discipline by getting to bed at a de ENT hour and get at least8-10 hours of sleep be extra careful on weekends when schedules go down the drain.
