Look for other cause: Generally, acoliosis is a painless condtion. Sometimes a disc herniation will cause a spasmodic scoliosis as can a spinal infection. Sometimes a scoliosis involving the lower back in older individuals will alter the biomechanics affecting degenerative changes. There is also a higher incidence of a spondylolithesis in the lower back with concurrent scoliosis diagnosis.
