A member asked:

I have scoliosis pretty bad. had it since i was 17. has got worse within the last three years. have a curve then goes to the cobb angle and i guess thats pretty severe. what is the success rate of scoliosis surgery in adults?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I certainly would want a thorough evaluation by a spine clinic or a specialist at a department of spine surgery at a university hospital near you before embarking on any scoliosis corrective surgery at your age. Of course these procedures are done& are successful on people in their 80s. Discussion of the risk/ benefit is crucial here vs physical therapy & nonsurgical treatment.
