It depends: On the size and position of the fibroid. If the fibroid is large and/or extends deep into the wall of the uterus, the surgery to remove it may commit you to cesarean with future pregnancies. This is because incisions made in the upper (contracting) portion of the uterus have a greater risk of bursting during labor. In that case, cesarean before labor is the safer option.
