Lose Weight? Hopeful: Good morning: there is probably little that is more frustrating then repeatedly failing to lose weight. My experience both as a clinician and as a man who has been overweight you need help. The best national diet plan for this is weight watchers. There is group accountability and good science. Another trick that works is writing down your calorie consumption every day. Lots of help is here.

Nutrient dense foods: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit) nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone).
