Ice and : Compression with an ace bandage or compression stockings. Antinflammatories like Motrin can be used. Ice on for 20 mins in a bucket of ice water is very easy and effective.

RICE: Rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Also consider range of motion exercises to the ankle. Don't forget to stretch before and after exercise.
