See dermatologist: Keloids are difficult to treat regardless of how they are treated since they can recur! treatment options vary depending on the size, and location of the keloid. Small keloids can be treated with injections of medication such as steroids. Laser and excisional surgery can also be used for larger keloids, followed by injections to prevent recurrence or even radiation.

Steroids vs excision: Smaller keloids are frequently responsive to steroid injection and massage. You can also try silicone sheeting and even laser treatment if your skin is fair. If these measures are not successful then direct surgical excision is effective but the wound must be closed with a tension free closure. The risk of recurrence overall is high.
