Bio
Dr. S was born in Pensacola, Florida but spent a significant amount of his childhood in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from the University of Georgia and became interested in medicine early in his academic career with goals of becoming a surgeon.
He obtained his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. S completed two years of General and Vascular Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He then transitioned to complete his residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Prestigious University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He ultimately focused his training on specializing exclusively on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the Face and Neck which led him to purse fellowship training with the renowned Dr. Edwin Williams, president elect for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the New England Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center.
He was recognized by both Duke and UNC faculty for numerous awards including the Duke Appleseed Resident teaching award, the Temporal bone award for excellent surgical dissection and the William H. Shockley Golden Owl Teaching Award. He is published in journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of sciences and has published in the plastic surgery literature on topics including burn scar contracture scales.
He has been a leader in organized medicine including memberships in the Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Triological Society, American College of Surgeons and Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery.
Dr. S is married to his college sweetheart and they have two children. In his free time, Dr. S enjoys traveling, playing golf and trying new cuisine.
