Yes and yes: It is common to perform liposuction of an adjacent area such as the flanks/sides of thighs. There may be a discount for having this done at the same time. Also, some surgeons will perform liposuction on the abdomen before performing a tummy tuck (lipoabdominoplasty).

Lipo with tummy tuck: A tummy tuck does 3 things that you can't do on your own with diet and exercise: remove and tighten loose skin, repair muscle separation (called a diastasis) if necessary, and remove localized fat that is resistant to change with diet and exercise. Fat removal can be done in various ways including liposuction, and lipo is often done as part of a tummy tuck to refine the waistline for example.

Thousands; Concerns: More likely hundreds of thousands of people have had lipo with tummy tuck. Although it is not an essential component of a tummy tuck, lipo is commonly performed together with a tummy tuck to achieve a superior result. However, there are concerns about the area of liposuction to be treated and it is generally avoided in the central portions of the abdomen where it can compromise the blood supply.

Sure...but: Liposuction is commonly performed with tummy tuck surgery. It can be helpful but can also introduce problems if done in excess or in the wrong places (at the same time.).

Commonly.: Liposuction is a tool that can be used judiciously during tummy tuck surgery. It may be used to “sculpt” certain parts of the abdomen or flanks during the procedure. However, care must be taken not to “overdue” liposuctioning when done together with tummy tuck surgery. Sometimes, patients who have undergone tummy tuck surgery may benefit from a second stage liposuction procedure.

Lipoabdominoplasty: Lipoabdominoplasty is a modified way of performing a tummy tuck. It is less invasive, faster recovery, less post op pain, faster return to normal activities and a more pleasing bikini line scar. It involves liposuction of the upper and lower abdomen, the loose skin and tissue slides down and the excess is trimmed away. Brignonimd.Com.

Yes: Lipo of the waist and flank area really enhances the shaping effect you can get with a tummy tuck. I do this in the vast majority of my tummy tuck operations.
