No problem: I don't see any problem with putting your retainer in a dishwasher, it will not damage the structure. Will it remove all stains? I don't know the degree of stains or calcium retained in the acrylic part of your retainer. You can also use a denture cleaning solution or desolving tabs. Sold over the counter. Good luck!

No: Most dish washing soaps are too harsh for your dental appliances. The retainer would probably fly all over the place due to the force of the water spray and damage it. A soft bristle brush with no toothpaste is often sufficient. You can also soak it in bleach to remove bacteria or vinegar to take off the hard calcium deposits.

No: I would not recommend it. The temperatures and chemicals could damage it. If it became dislodged and ended up on the heating element, you would destroy it. Scrub with toothpaste and soak in effervescent cleaner.

No: The intense heat in some dishwashers can affect the prosthesis integrity. Best to just brush and or place in enzymatic bath.

Risky!: I think it's risky business for both your retainer and your dish washer. Why not use a soft toothbrush and tooth paste when you brush and floss your teeth? You can also soak it in a denture cleaner sometimes. Just follow the directions.
