Varies: Besides an mri, an arthrogram of the shoulder can also be done with a ct scan to look for a torn rotator cuff if a patient can't have an MRI due to contraindications such as pacemakers/defibrillators, other metal objects in the body that are not compatible with mri.

Hard to tell.: The cost for an arthrogram varies greatly, based on your geographic location, insurance coverage and whether performed in an in-patient or out-patient setting. You may have good insurance coverage and only pay a small co-pay such as $20 US, or without insurance you may pay a very large over-priced cost to a hospital of over $500 for the arthrogram without additional imaging. Ask your Doctor.
