Persistent cough: Are you certain it is influenza & not sinus infection with post-nasal drainage or pertussis? If the coughing is exhausting you & otc cough meds don't help, see your doc for more definite diagnosis & treatment. May prescribe a codeine-based cough med to break the cycle of coughing as well as rx antibiotic if appropriate.
