Many Causes of Cough: Does she have a history of asthma? Does she cough during the day? How long has the cough been a problem. Cough likely caused by either postnasal drainage when she lies down or narrowing of breathing tubes, bronchospasm.

Revisit doctor: or get a second opinion, don't know how old is your daughter, her chest can sound clear but she still has a reason to cough the way you described. Irritated upper/lower airways can cause this without any other sign such as wheezing, so she may need Rx medications as bronchodilators and antibiotics. Environment also plays a role, smokers, pets, school, etc.. good luck
