See below:: 1.Thoraco-lumbo-sacral-orthosis (tlso)-aka boston or underarm brace worn 23hrs/day. 2.Cervico-thoraco-lumbo-sacral-orthosis (known as a milwaukee brace)-similar to the tlso & includes a neck ring held in place by vertical bars attached to the body of the brace. 3. Charleston bending brace-called a “nighttime” brace because it is only worn while sleeping. The back brace is molded to the pt.

Tlso: A thoraco lumbar sacral orthosis basically a really long brace that is over most of the body. They are custom molded and fit to the body. The data on bracing for idiopathic scoliosis is that the effectiveness is proportional to amount of time worn. Most recommend upwards of 16 hrs a day.
