Probably: The antibiotic will work on the bacterial infection, but it won't necessarily heal the irritated throat tissue. Other things like drinking warm fluids, things that keep the throat moist, gargling with warm salt water, etc. May be necessary. If not improving, there may be an abscess or might be resistent. Yes: Was the infection just a strep throat or a retropharyngeal abscess? If the latter, such infections take longer to clear up. How severe is the diarrhea? Keep her hydrated with water/pedialyte/juices. Use kaopectate (kaolin and pectin) or pepto-bismol to slow diarrhea (follow package directions for correct dose based on age/weight).
