I was diagnosed with strep throat and given a 10 day dose of pencillin and then after going backward given amoxicillin. now tonsils are still swollen?

Tonsils: I would reconsider the problem. Tonsils can swell for multiple reasons not just for strep throat. Allergies, viral processes other atypical infections.

Co-infection: Since strep is universally sensitive to the penicillin drugs, any residual inflammation is likely due to a concurrent infection with a virus. Mono patients will often also carry strep A and turn the quick test positive.Other viruses can do the same. I would give it some time.
