Need/kidney function: This is a complicated question. Our bodies need different amounts of protein depending on what's going on. For example, if you are healing a wound - especially a burn - you will need larger amounts of protein than the average person. Most people need one-half to one gram of protein per pound of body weight. But you can seriously overdo this if your kidney function is less than normal! ask the doc!
