Avoid medications,: and foods with simple sugars, such as jam, syrups, fruit juice and milk (lactose) but diarrhea usually will not resolve unless having a somewhat normal diet. I suggest using a lactose reduced milk, and usually complex carbs like bread and pasta as well as lean meats are well tolerated once vomiting has or slowed down. Chicken noodle soup is a winner! Probiotics help, esp if on antibiotics recent

Diarrhea: in children is common and usually self resolving with a few extra dietary supports. STOPPING the diarrhea (the body's way of eliminating the offending infection) with medications can be dangerous in children. Supplement with an electrolyte solution (few ounces) after every loose stool, avoid of sugary foods/drinks like juices, and increase binding foods (bananas, rice, toast) .
