Hmm: venous ultrasound can exclude DVT in the femoral vein. However, unless there are risk factors like factor V Leiden deficiency, oral contraceptives, recent long distance air travel etc. I suspect the test might do more harm than good.

Leg pain and DVT: Not every leg pain is due to DVT. Initial treatment without any other symptoms would probably be wet heat and ibuprofen . If you have leg swelling or worsening symptoms then a venous duplex ultrasound is the gold standard test to make a diagnosis of DVT between the groin and the lower calf.
