1lb = 350 cal so if i'm on a 1200 cal diet & i'm 5"5, lightly active and say in that cal range will i lose 2 lbs a week or do i need do eat less ?

Oh no.....: It is 3500 cal = one pound of flesh. That is, to gain a pound of flesh you must consume 3500 cal more than you burn. Ex: over 7 days, eat 1500 cal / day, burn 1000 cal / day. Or, to lose a pound of flesh, burn 1700 cal / day and eat only 1200 cal / day x 7 days. The key is daily consistency. If you burn 1700 cal x 5 days while eating 1200 cal x 5 days, then eat 2400 cal x 2 days, won't work.

Bad Math: 1 lb fat=3500 calories not 350. You didn't mention your weight but in general a 1200 calorie diet will result in 1-2 lbs lost each week. You shouldn't go below that level in order to maintain adequate nutrition. Consider exercising more. Walking, treadmill, elliptical, swimming, cycling for 30 minutes 5 times per week.
