A member asked:

Why are ultrasounds performed on shoulders?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diagnostic: ultrasound (as opposed to ultrasound used in treatment) can help identify rotator cuff disease, bursitis, biceps tendon disease, muscle atrophy, and symptoms caused by restricted motion of the humerus in the shoulder joint (impingement). Ultrasound also aids in guiding steroid injections so that the medicine goes into the desired area.
