A member asked:

Which tests should i ask for in order to determine the cause of my psychosis?

Wrong Question: The better question is what is the cause of my problem. If you ask for tests, you may not get an accurate response to the real question. There are many tests, some of which are similar. One must have specialized knowledge to determine which is the best in a particular situation.

Psyhciatrist: There are no lab tests for diagnosis of psychosis, like there are for many other disorders. You need to rely on the judgment of your doctor/psychiatrist. Wish you good health!

History first: Make sure you are able to provide a good history first, have a reliable person with you that has witnessed your symptoms. You will not have to ask for tests, the medical team will decide what tests are appropriate for you, based on exam and history.
