Maybe. : But regardless, most dentists can tell if someone has been smoking upon oral exam. Chances are they will know if you're smoking regularly. I would just be honest with them. It is likely in your best interest.

Yes: Nicotine and tars will discolor parts of your appliances. Smoke will irritate gums, adversely affecting time in treatment. Not to mention smoking will kill you.
