Cefixime: Cefixime (suprax) is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia; bronchitis; gonorrhea; and ear, lung, throat, and urinary tract infections. Azithromycin (zithromax) can be used for strep throat, but there have been several reports in the medical literature of the development of resistance to this antibiotic.
