Yes, effective: Your doctor would not have prescribed it if she didn't expect it to be effective. Perhaps you're concerned about only 3 days treatment. However, azithromycin is very long lasting; each dose remains in your system for about 10 days. So this treatment will be active against strep for almost 2 weeks. It will work just fine.
