Is it normal for costochondritis to appear suddenly? (upper right chest, next sternum). what is the best home care, and how long should it last?

Costochondritis....: Costochondritis is due to inflammation of the cartilage of the rib cage. It can appear suddenly. If pressing on the affected area of the chest wall reproduces the pain, costochondritis is probable. Treatment includes antiinflammatory meds like ibuprofen and applying heat or cold to the area, whichever decreases discomfort. The pain can last a few days. See your doctor if the diagnosis is uncertain
