If you have bone loss in a jaw joint due to tmj, can the bone loss be reversed or undone? can the jaw joint be made healthy and normal again?

See an OFP: Condylar remodeling is a physiologic process that aims to adapt the structure of TMJ to meet the functional demands. No surgery is needed. See an Orofacial Pain doctor for evaluation and conservative and predictable treatment.

Specializes in Surgery - Oral & Maxillofacial

No, Yes: The bone loss is a response and not a cause of pain. Your joint symptoms can be improved with treatment. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
