A member asked:

I have a unilateral jaw tmj dislocation and my right condyle sticks out like a ball by my ear. the ct scan shows that my jaw seems normal when it can be felt that its not. is this because the scan shows the joint is relatively in the same place?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It may be anomalous bone anatomy, displaced joint disc, or other situations. Lab tests and imaging must be interpreted with clinical findings. Talk to the doctor that ordered the scan. If you wish a second opinion, I would recommend one or more of the following specialists: Oral Surgeon, Oral Pathologist, and/or Cranio-facial Pain specialist. Take a copy of your CT Scan with you.
