Woke up with sharp severe pain above naval. when i sit up pain lessens a lot. when lay on belly pain comes back. what could it be? took pepto bismal.

Hard to say: Sudden abdominal pain could be minor, or serious. Anything else going on? Pepto-bismol (if over 16) is worth a try if no other symptoms. If it helps good. If not and and pain lasts more than an hour or so, get checked fast or call your doc. If fever, dizziness, possible pregnancy, persistent vomiting, worsening pain, or no relief, get checked now!
