Why do people still use a blood test for narcolepsy?

Genetic link: Narcolepsy is a chronic medical condition which leads to excessive daytime sleepiness in addition to other symptoms. There is a blood test which looks for a specific cellular marker (hla dqb1*0602) which is associated with narcolepsy. Everyone having the marker does not have narcolepsy, but most people with narcolepsy have the marker.

Not standard: While there is a high concordance with hla type and narcolepsy i don't often use this in practice. It is not part of my workup. If positive or negative it is not confirmatory.
