Specializes in Pediatric Urology

Fetal hydronephrosis: Means that kidney pelvis (Funnel for urine before it enters "drainpipe" to bladder) is retaining some urine. Means that there may be degree of blockage, usually of little importance, to urine flowing out of kidney. Very common in Pediatric Urology. Baby needs kidney ultrasound after birth. Wait 2 - 4 weeks if prenatal renal pelvis dilatation is mild. Soon after birth if severe & see Pedi Urologist
