Cannabis: As to inveterate insomnia, countless people have reported the wonderful restorative sleep they have experienced taking small amounts of Cannabis indica prior to initiating the sleep process. Glycerine drops containing the eluted cannabinoids are effective and without the need for smoking the dried flower.

Need more evalaution: Depression/anxiety is a common cause of sleeplessness. Similarly some hormonal imbalances in the body like thyroid hormones, adrenal hormones imbalances and similar other hormonal disturbances can cause sleeplessness. Consult your PCP. Also increase in dose of ambien (zolpidem) if you are on the lower dose may help, till above things are ruled out
