It varies: The highest risk period for antidepressant side effects is the first 10-14 days after starting, but side effects can last up to a month before resolving. However, your insomnia sounds quite severe and given it has already been 3 weeks, in my opinion, likely warrants a change in medication.

INSOMNIA: First have a physical exam to rule out a physical problem. Please consult with a Clinical Psychologist for psychotherapy to help you with ZOOM.com sessions. Research indicates with psychotherapy you can change & find better coping mechanisms. Please see a Psychiatrist for medication better for you than Ambien and Zoloft. You may also qualify for a sleep study.
