A member asked:

What is the safest pain reliever to take for minor stress related muscle aches- tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil? minor meaning as needed 1or 2 times week?

Depends: It depends upon if you have any other conditions. If you have liver disease advil is safer as tylenol (acetaminophen) can irritate the liver. If you have hypertension, heart failure, kidney disease or ulcers then tylenol (acetaminophen) is safer as it does not worsen or contribute to those problems. If you have no other problems then either one is safe to take occasionally.

Advil (ibuprofen) Muscle & Joint: is the medication of choice for muscle aches such as yours caused by stress-induced inflammation of the muscles.
