Bruxism: Or grinding your teeth while asleep is most common reason for sore jaw muscles. A dentist can make you a bite guard to protect your teeth. I doubt that you've "blown" pulled your jaw muscles. This simply does not happen. You could also be having muscle spasms of the jaw muscles but these would be very painful and not just sore.
