Not recommended: Any medication used after the expiration date is generally safe. However, the medication will slowly lose its effectiveness after that date. Check the expiration date each time you take a medication. It is recommended to replace any medications that are out of date.

Expiration date is ?: It depends on the expiration date and you should check with your doctor. As your MD may have told you this medication can be used for nerve pain. However,it shouldn't be taken randomly. In addition the levels are often titrated to effect over time.So you should see your MD and together create a customized plan which may also include Physical therapy and stretching, myofascial release & a nerve test.

If the medication is unexpired, it may help quell the pain, but the left arm symptoms do need follow-up with your doctor ASAP. It appears likely that the "excruciating pain" could represent a nerve root compression which may be due to an exacerbation of your neck issues.
